Cystocele

A cystocele results when the tissues that support the bladder are damaged, usually during childbirth. The bladder then drops downward toward the vagina. On physical exam, the cystocele is diagnosed as a buldge in the top part of the vagina and may sometimes protrude out of the vagina. Symptoms of a cystocele can include pelvic pressure, pelvic pain, frequent urinary tract infections and urinary incontinence.

This can be illustrated if you imagine that the supportive tissue of the bladder is like a trampoline. If the canvas is torn, or the springs have separated from the frame, then anything placed on top of the canvas is unsupported and therefore drops down.
