Endometrial Ablation

With endometrial ablation, the lining of the uterine cavity is removed, using any one of several destructive procedures; all of which report similar satisfaction rates after the procedure. Most women who chose this alternative to hysterectomy for treatment of heavy bleeding are satisfied with results of decreased menstrual bleeding. As with the endometrial resection, some women will go on to have a hysterectomy because heavy bleeding continues but approximately seven out of ten women who have an ablation procedure will avoid a hysterectomy.
