In private practice since 2003, Dr. Amy Garcia is New Mexico’s only fellowship-trained Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeon (MIGS) in private practice.

Dr. Garcia is a native of New Mexico and received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of New Mexico. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) at the University of Illinois in Chicago (UIC). Following her residency, she remained at UIC to complete a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) fellowship as one of the country’s first graduating fellows of the Fellowship of the AAGL.

Following her fellowship training, Dr. Garcia returned to New Mexico and has performed thousands of laparoscopic (small camera in the abdomen) and hysteroscopic (small camera in the uterus) procedures for women. Currently, her practice is focused on performing hysteroscopic and other gynecologic procedures in the office.

Dr. Garcia is considered a leading expert in hysteroscopy and surgical education for hysteroscopic procedures. She teaches nationally and internationally, teaching her colleagues and peers about office operative and diagnostic hysteroscopy.
